Climatotherapy

Rehabilitation of patients with impaired CNS function

The Centre provides climatological therapy.

Low ionizing radiation and microclimatic features of the therapeutic environment of the sylvinite speleological chamber provide increased aeroionization, temporary elimination of allergens, reduction of bronchial reactivity, normalization of mucociliary transport, improvement of drainage function of bronchi and elimination of immunological disorders.

Rehabilitation of patients with impaired CNS function

Inhalation of an atomised high-dispersed sodium chloride aerosol in relatively stable temperature-humidity conditions of the halochamber, reduces swelling of the bronchial walls, improves the functioning of the ciliary epithelium, has a mucolytic effect, bactericidal effect as well.

The appropriate setting for the procedures, the psychological sensation of temporary isolation from the outside environment creates the conditions of psycho-emotional comfort.

The chambers are used for both preventive and therapeutic purposes in pulmonary, otolaryngological, cardiological and neurological patients.

A sea air inhalation room (cavitotherapy). An artificial reproduction of the sea climate is created in a special area (room) by finely dispersing a spray of sea water. The treatment lasts for 12-20 minutes and is indicated for various upper respiratory tract diseases and as a general strengthening procedure.

Hydrotherapy

The medical rehabilitation department is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for a wide range of therapies and offers practically the entire range of modern hydro-balneotherapy services and programmes. The department is able to provide baths with different mineral compositions (balneotherapy) as well as effective hydrotherapy procedures.

Balneotherapy

Sodium chloride baths

Sodium chloride is the most common mineral water found in nature. Sodium chloride baths act by precipitating mineral salt on the skin and forming a salt cloak on it. The penetration of electrolytes from the bath water into the surface layers of the skin changes the skin's environment for a long time: it restores its reactivity, metabolism and microcirculation processes. Sodium chloride baths help to widen the peripheral vessels, increase blood circulation, increase oxygen uptake by the body and the function of the endocrine glands. Sodium chloride baths improve the tone of the veins and stimulate the venous blood flow to a greater extent than all other baths.

Iodine-bromine baths

One of the popular balneotherapy procedures. Iodine or bromine has been proven to penetrate through the skin from the bath water. Iodine-bromine baths have a sedative and analgesic effect on the body, reduce blood clotting, positively influence the function of endocrine glands (thyroid, sex glands and adrenal glands), and influence the disrupted lipid metabolism.

Carbon dioxide baths

These refer to gas baths, i.e. baths made of water supersaturated with gas, which in this case is carbon dioxide.

A general wellness personalized programme at the swimming pool complex of NMRC RB.

Rehabilitation of patients with impaired CNS function Nowadays, an important focus in prevention is the strengthening of the immune and bronchopulmonary systems. The 2-hour general wellness programme is personalized and includes a freshwater pool with cascade massage systems, air-relaxation water massage, and counter-flow swimming. The second pool with natural sodium chloride mineral water, whose mineralization is close to that of the ocean, gives you the opportunity to be invigorated by active water walking or to have a deep water relaxation session. Thermal procedures in the sauna with phyto-aromatic compositions, the Russian sauna programme and relaxation in the steam hamam have a beneficial effect on general health and have been proven by modern research to activate the immune system, reduce psycho-emotional stress, improve sleep and increase working capacity. Natural calcium-magnesium sulphate mineral water Arbatskaya ("Moskovskaya") is good for replenishing fluid loss and ensuring the activation of metabolic processes. The programme lasts for 2 hours under the guidance and supervision of a doctor. The sessions are at 4pm and 6pm by appointment. The number of people is 1 or 2. For a family programme - 4 people maximum.

Siliceous baths

It has been proven that silicon in the human body plays a huge role in protein, fat and carbohydrate metabolism. It is also important in the formation of hormones and enzymes. Due to it, a human can assimilate more than 70 vitamins, macro-and microelements, including calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sulfur, potassium, sodium, and others. Water-soluble silicon compounds penetrate into blood and accumulate in nuclei and mitochondria of cells of various organs and tissues (blood, myocardium, liver), change cell metabolism and cell membrane permeability. Siliceous baths reduce elevated blood pressure and blood lipids, reduce the number of angina episodes and the need for nitrates, and increase time to the onset of signs of myocardial ischemia induced by exercise, while improving the prognosis and quality of life of patients. Given that siliceous thermal waters contain silicic acid, which has a drying effect on the skin, siliceous thermal baths are successfully used in balneotherapy for the treatment of weeping dermatoses that have a tendency to exudation. Siliceous thermal baths are successfully used in active longevity programmes.

Hydrogen sulphide baths

Hydrogen sulphide waters are widespread in nature. The therapeutic effect of hydrogen sulphide water is determined by the free hydrogen sulphide and hydrosulphide ions present in the water. A correctly prescribed course of hydrogen sulphide baths reduces the resistance of peripheral vessels, decreases the blood pressure, and increases the blood supply to tissues, basic metabolism and speeds up recovery processes. They are contraindicated in cases of heart rhythm disorders. Hydrogen sulphide baths have a strong vasodilator, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, immune-stimulating effect, improve nerve conduction and the central nervous system.

Hydrotherapy

Underwater massage treatment (Underwater shower-massage)

It is a hydrotherapeutic procedure which involves massaging the body in a water environment with a compact, high-pressure stream of water.

Rehabilitation of patients with impaired CNS function Underwater massage treatment is a successful combination of the effects of a general warm bath and a massage. Warm bathing causes relaxation of muscles, reduction of pain, which allows for a more vigorous mechanical and thermal treatment, and affects the deeper tissues.

Underwater massage treatment has an active effect on the human body: it stimulates the adaptive capacity of the nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine and immune systems, improves the functional state of the skin and the musculoskeletal system.

Charcot's douche (jet douche)

One of the most popular hydropathy procedures. The most effective results of the jet shower are seen in the following conditions: overweight and obesity, hypotonic disease, musculoskeletal diseases, asthenic conditions, dystonia, chronic fatigue syndrome, etc.

Cascade shower

Is a pouring shower from which water falls in a stream of varying intensity, temperature and shape. The cascade shower is taken in a shallow pool with a water pumping device above it. The patient stands up to waist height in the water and a stream of indifferent temperature is poured from above, affecting firstly the head (mostly parietal and occipital) and the cervical spine, activating blood circulation in the collar zone and increasing the blood flow to the brain. By varying the intensity of the pressure and the temperature of the shower, a tonic, antispasmodic or sedative effect can be achieved.

Whirlpool baths

These are baths with a turbulent water motion that is created by a special device. The gentle tissue massage improves trophicity and conduction along the neuromuscular fibers. Peripheral blood circulation, microcirculation and the autonomic nervous system are normalized. Whirlpool baths have a tonic, antispasmodic and analgesic effect.

Hydro galvanic baths

Is a unique procedure that combines the action of a freshwater bath and a low voltage, low intensity electric current. The option of using different modes (galvanic, diadynamic, etc.) makes it possible to achieve analgesic, myostimulating, vasodilating and other effects. When administered correctly, these baths can be very effective in patients with dorsopathies, diabetes mellitus with angio - and neuropathies.

Thermal therapy

Mud therapy

Rehabilitation of patients with impaired CNS function

Mud therapy is widely used in spa medicine. The balneotherapy department of the Centre uses classic methods of application mud treatment. Today, highly mineralized silt mud from Lake Medvezhiye is used in the treatment and prevention programmes.

There are methods of general mud applications and classic variants of local, local effects (collar), mud applications on large joints, the collar zone, spinal segments, the "panty" zone, etc. Different temperature regimes are used for different types of pathology: hyperthermal, isothermal and hypothermal.

Seaweed (algae) applications

The department uses original domestic algae application procedures based on the algae of the Pacific Ocean (Laminaria, Fucus). The treatments include both general algae applications and local applications (on the spine and large joints). The original method developed at the centre has proven itself in the treatment of degenerative diseases of the musculoskeletal system.

Applicative thermal therapy

Is also performed with the use of parafango. This treatment has proven particularly effective for disorders of the musculoskeletal system, obesity and cosmetology. The complex composition of purified paraffin, seaweed and volcanic mud ensures an effective therapeutic effect.

Phyto barrel

Thermal exposure to wet steam in phyto barrel ensures a good detoxifying effect and is used for chronic fatigue syndrome, for active prevention of diseases such as ARVI, especially in the winter-spring period.

Phyto-aroma sauna

Is one of the mild forms of heat therapy. At temperatures up to 60°C with controlled humidity, the air is saturated with a complex of phyto-aromatic oils. Relaxation programmes are available, to improve the quality of sleep and to reduce the effects of psycho-emotional stress.
